Jesse

Jesse is the king around our house.  Retired do to injuries, but he might race occasionally if he feels up to it. He more than earned his retirement.  At 21 years young he is still going strong. He was a 1D barrel, pole and figure eight horse all the way to his retirement. He can also cut cows, rope, and slow down for western pleasure. If Sierra had not been in school, they would have competed professionally. Yes he was that good! At 18, in the local club, Central Oregon Barrel Racing Assocaition or COBRA, he took Sierra to second place in the all around. Sierra was trying to slowly retire him and ask the young horses to pick up the slack. She used her youngsters in barrels as she was saving Jesse for poles, cause he's was the best at the time at it.  He also ran the Figure eight, and both the daubing and breakaway.  With Beau picking up slack in goat tying.  A few years ago before his injuries and still in his high teens he took her to First place in the all around with his consistancy in speed events.  Sierra's never been a good roper or goat tyer, so she stuck it out with him by getting the points in the speed events.  He has a few Central Oregon PeeWee rodeo all around placing and buckles in his belt, even winning the Barrel and Pole buckle in the same year.  Course peewee rodeo has rule you can only get one buckle so she took barrels, she was prouder of that winning on Jesse a home grown horse and not a $10,000 parent purchased push button horse. He has many other buckles and awards in even halter, western pleasure.  He was used as a ranch horse and his starting years were as a turn back horse, never getting to compete in cutting, though trained for it.  Before his injuries about 5 years ago he was a pony horse for the races in Prineville, very good at that do.  People would see him walking around at ask what race he was in.  Sierra would respond he's 16 like me.  We did a turn and burn time in front of the starting gates with full tack, talking barrel saddle and all and it was low 14 seconds, did I forget to mention he was fast.  So I hope you can see why we are trying to copy him.  He will never leave us and is enjoying the quiet life with his mares.

Ty

Hicrest Kings R Wild LTE $3805
Born in 1998 out of Shami and sired by Autograph, he was a gorgoues loud bay overo. He was three weeks early he was small, and we almost lost him, but thanks to Probias and the towel lift he is still here. He wasn't supposed to be our star barrel horse, replacing Jesse.  When we bred to Autograph we thought Paint still had a hardship clause, of course we were a few years shy.  We could register Pinto, but people with a paint mare wouldn't breed to just a pinto stud so he was gelded.  And Sierra wasn't over 18 and she'd be showing him, he needed to be a gelding.  As a yearling he won every halter class entered in the local Oregon paint club schooling show.  Even the color class against 10 full grown horses, even a Barlink bred mare.  The judge said he'd grown up to be a beautiful horse and he has.  Our step dad, teacher and trainer, Eugene White passed away in the middle of his training.  And Sierra was still learning the difference between riding and training horses.  She was also in Highschool playing 3 sports and already riding two horses, so Ty was put on the back burner.  He was ridden sporaticaly, but we did get finished.  He was laid back then and nothing bothered him.  Sierra's junior year ('05) he carried the princess of Homecoming to recieve her crown.  Seeing nothing, not the huge crowd, noise or lights bothered him, we took him to Pony race horses with the injured Jesse.  At the time we didn't know Jesse had torn both his muscle sheaths in between his back legs.  His muscles were rock hard to do constriction, but he could be ridden, and this helped him.  Later we learned what he had done and exersice keeps him limber.  Ty did great ponying, just walked alittle slow.  Sierra got many offers to buy him, but she said no.  In the year after that she had time for him and started his barrel training.  She makes all her horses hot to trot and Ty was no different.  He found lightening speed and he snakes around the barrels.  He amazed Sierra.  He look to the barrels.  Winter of '05 he debuted in COBRA, after some trials like learning to run in the Madras arena and a new bit that didn't let him get away with taking his nose away, he improved with every run.  By April we was in the 14's in barrels and ran a 22 in the poles and the sixth competition was his 6th time running.  Sierra joined BRN4D in '06 and he won money every time and he was injured in May.  He's was off all summer, cause finding a chiropractor in Central Oregon is difficult.  They all travel in and are here for a few days.  We had one come down from Oregon City, thanks SO MUCH Ron Barker!  We're are starting to haul him so he can gain experience.   Did well at Sand Cupin '09 first 2 night stay.  Working on fixing problems he picked up running in tiny indoor arenas in Madras and Prineville.

Born March 3rd 1997 out of Shami and sired by Dandee Lena Fajita, he was supposed to be Sierra's barrel horse.  His daddies reiner stop was hard to train out of him and he has frustrated us along the way.  His slow work was great, but our ground was crappy and sierra held him back from running.  He learned to run into the pressure from that and the fact he like to buck, so Sierra was always sitting deep on him.  Well I spotted it and seen he would only run under those conditions holding him back and her butt planted in the saddle.   Put him in a side pull and he is running good 2D times.
